Providing Opportunity
Community Doulas of Waco is a 501c3 organization located in Waco, Texas who provides doula services and basic breastfeeding support to birthing or adoptive families of newborns through 12 weeks of age who could not otherwise afford them. Furthermore, we aim to create a pathway for mothers who have received these services to become community doulas themselves thus increasing their income earning potential and helping them to reach an economic status they currently cannot achieve.
We provide a pathway to varying levels of economic independence by helping those who receive services to become community doulas themselves.
Providing Care
*Statistics show that most birthing women who want and need a birth doula or postpartum doula cannot afford one and thus go without the vital support doulas provide. This lack of support increases the risks of not achieving desired and expected health outcomes associated with childbirth. According to March of Dimes research, knowledgeable and accessible support is one of the main keys to breastfeeding women reaching their breastfeeding goals.
We will provide birth doula and postpartum doula services to birthing mothers during pregnancy up to the first 3 months after giving birth. Moms who choose to breastfeed will be provided basic breastfeeding support to help them reach their breastfeeding goals or be given referrals to the appropriate lactation professional to address challenging breastfeeding concerns when needed.
If and when a client experiences postpartum depression within the first year of giving birth, we will provide doula support and and connect them with the appropriate counselors/therapists in the community.
